Contemporary Conservatives vs Classical Conservative

Immigration is a major issue that divides liberals and conservatives. Conservatives tend to blame lack of strong immigration laws to cause the overflow of immigrants entering the country. They believe in stronger immigration laws and even proposed more security and funding for the U.S borders. Conservatives are trying to put limitations on immigration inorder to deal with the influx of people entering. This article talks about the new deal that was created between the political parties that was turned down due to no agreement about reforming and funding the border and border security. The author describes the views of the conservatives (Republicans) and the liberals (Democrats). The author also mentions conservative’s personal views on the issue. One in particular was upset that a proposition had been made and was rejected. This article reflects conservative viewpoints because conservatives are trying to keep social stability by political means.

In today’s politics, conservatism is relatively associated with being a republican. They share common beliefs in issues such as abortion and immigration. Today’s conservatism and Burkean conservatism differ in the aspect of application. Those in power tend to make decisions that fit a certain agenda. Instead of following regulations set in place from the past, many regulations are changing to fit in today’s societal changes. Classical Conservatism aimed to retain traditions already in place to avoid backlash. Contemporary Conservatism today, aims to bend those traditions to fit an agenda for political gain and exposure.
