Kamala Harris and Generation Z
In Hollywood, actors and actresses flip the script probably when they cannot remember their lines and improvise instead or when they do not like the script itself they add their own twist to spice it up. In politics, when you flip the script you change the game. President Biden passed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris. With no hesitation, she took the torch and ran with it like a track star at the olympics. Why has she made such a big wave? She’s making waves because she is someone new. Now she’s been in politics for a long time from California all the way to Washington D.C. She is giving the democratic party hope and a vision with purpose. She sees the people and her campaign team is utilizing her awareness to push for support. Young people spend most of their time on social media. That is where you can reach them. You're not going to reach them with just any title and message, you need the action. Implementing young people on the team is a great first start. They understand the current trends and ways to grasp the younger generation’s attention. They know who to market and how to market to make awareness and generate support. But not only that, as Kamala is running, she will be able to learn and understand what the younger people deem important to them. To know your supporters you have to understand and acknowledge them. The current media ecosystem is constantly changing, especially around election year. You see ads, campaign commercials, events, etc during this time. It is critical that campaigns push content out daily or weekly to keep the fire burning. This way the media platforms and outlets can stay on topic and continue sharing relevant data and information. Politics has moved beyond Capitol Hill. The people are using their voices the best way they know how, by posting and sharing on social media. Politics is no longer moving by ear but by post. As time evolves, politics has to reinvent itself to keep up with the current ecosystem. I believe online activity translates to physical, in-person votes, because people are always posting about making sure to vote. They share polling stations, voter registration booths and events. More and more young people are becoming of the age to vote in federal elections. Attracting the new voters coming up is an important factor that the campaign should focus on. Gaining their support by actions rather than words holds a promise of votes in november.
