A common, prevailing theme in news coverage.

  • The U.S seeing Labor Market Downturn : 22

  • Big Apple savors big easy’s cushion : 4

  • Scientist dive deep into study of mermaid’s hair : 2
  • How Michigan got here : 4

Breakdown and looking through the front page newspaper articles I have identified a various number of themes. One of the most recurring was talks about the United States Labor market and Dinners Tips. The U.S Labor had over twenty-two articles reporting on the issue. Dinner tips have five articles reporting. The theme between these two headlines are economics and lifestyle, in which people do pay a lot of attention to. Everyone wants to know what could affect their money. Newspaper coverage of the labor market going down is important to local and/or rural individuals who may not have access to the internet or fast paced technology.

What types of topics or events receive attention and is such a focus warranted, or not?

  • Drug overdosages : Warranted because this is a prevalent problem in the United States and we need to find ways of combating this issue head-on without shortcuts because too many young people are overdosing and dying.

  • Entertainment : Not warranted to be on the front page because it does not really tackle any important issues. Only highlights topics and/or individuals such as rappers and singers.

  • Sports : Not warranted because you can catch a Football game by either attending or watching it at a sports bar. You can even watch it online, both the live game and game highlights. It does not really tackle any important issues.

  • Environment - Natural disasters and economic effects : Warranted because natural disasters affect everyone. People lose their homes and personal belongings. It takes time for people to recover. They also affect the economy because of all the relief money and insurance claims payout. It does tackle important issues that individuals should be informed about. They can learn to prepare themselves in case something happens where they live.

  • Food : Not warranted to be on the front page because it does not really tackle any important issues. Only highlights popular food spots. Sometimes not everyone can afford these locations and this nature does not appeal to the masses. Maybe in the food section but not the front page.

  • Education : Warranted because education is the foundation of America. It is important to gain knowledge about things individuals are interested in and want to learn more about. It does tackle important issues that include education.

  • Politics : Warranted because everyone wants updates about what's happening in the country. It does tackle important issues that include politics such as elections and political orientation.

  • lifestyle : Not warranted to be on the front page because it does not really tackle any important issues. Only highlights certain aspects of life that are sometimes not reality to individuals.

The most fascinatingly "random" front page story.

  • Sun sentinel : seniors swipe right this was the most fascinating because who knew grandma and grandpa could swipe without their reading glasses.

  • Leo the lizard gains community support : This could be the lizard Netflix made an animated movie on called “Leo”. The lizard was able to bring the classroom children together in order to move on to the next grade.
