The Art of Political Ad-making (the case of AOC)

The Courage to Change ad displays the characteristics and personality of AOC. The side we do not get to see as much because she is busy defending those who do not have a voice. You see a young girl essentially grow up to be a woman who believes in the betterment of not just herself but her community and the place she calls home. She became vulnerable in this ad to showcase her true self outside the fancy pantsuits. She had a 9 to 5 job that paid minimum wage. She saw and understood the struggles of not just herself but those around her. She saw how hard it was to make enough money for two weeks to buy food and clothes. She took a chance entering congress and has since then made waves. The ad demonstrated the use of visual images to showcase the Bronx. The working individuals who have to take on different tasks and jobs to make ends meet. The music and sound within the ad wanted to invoke emotions from views. To make them understand that she does not fight for herself but for those overlooked. She is the definition of an independent woman, who is not afraid to step into the lion den. Her and her team that worked on this ad wanted to display the beginnings of an individual who wanted to change her circumstance and inspire others to do the same. She may be in capital hill but she is still that Bronx girl who takes the subway to her destinations.
